A charge of drug trafficking covers a very broad range of alleged crimes but they all have one thing in common: they can all have a huge impact on the rest of your life.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Edmonton, special measures are being taken by the police force to clamp down on drugs because of the well-publicized \u201cdrug problem\u201d in the city.<\/span><\/p>\n

For instance, according to a <\/span>12-month study by Statistics Canada<\/span><\/a> between March 2018 and March 2019, the city had the highest use of\u00a0methamphetamine in all major cities in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) considers drug trafficking as organized crime and is \u201ccommitted to reducing or eliminating drug operations from the City of Edmonton.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Controlled Drugs and Substances Act<\/a> (S.C. 1996, c. 19) says:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

5\u00a0(1)<\/strong>\u00a0No person shall traffic in a substance included in Schedule I, II, III, IV or V or in any substance represented or held out by that person to be such a substance.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
